Job description
Role overview
An established SME housebuilder in Kent is hiring a Land Buyer to strengthen its land acquisition pipeline as the business continues to expand. The company has been developing attractive, high-quality homes across Kent, Sussex, London and Surrey for over 25 years and has maintained top-level customer satisfaction for five consecutive years.
This is a hands-on acquisition position within a business that is large enough to support your work but small enough for your decisions to have real impact. The role offers genuine autonomy and the chance to influence what land is secured next.
Key responsibilities
- Identify residential development opportunities through land agents, landowners and off-market sources.
- Assess potential sites and prepare financial viability appraisals from initial review through to approval.
- Lead negotiations on land purchases, options and conditional agreements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with agents, promoters and landowners across the region.
- Partner with planning and technical teams to evaluate site potential and progress acquisitions through to completion.
Candidate profile
- Previous experience in land buying or land acquisition, ideally within a residential housebuilder or developer.
- Strong ability to complete development appraisals and judge site viability.
- Comfortable sourcing opportunities and negotiating commercial terms.
- Solid understanding of the planning process and its effect on land value.
- An existing network of agents and landowners would be useful, although the drive to build one quickly is also valued.
Package
- Basic salary of up to £60,000.
- Car allowance.
- Additional package benefits.
Additional information
This opportunity is with an award-winning SME rather than a national PLC, and it offers real influence over purchasing decisions from the outset.
