Position Summary

The Labourer role supports daily yard operations by assisting with organization, sorting, upkeep, and minor repairs of tools, equipment, and materials. This position plays a vital role in maintaining an orderly, efficient yard and ensures project teams have timely access to necessary resources. Ideal candidates are dependable, safety-conscious, organized, and comfortable performing hands-on outdoor work.

Primary Responsibilities

• Comply with Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized yard area.
• Identify, report safety hazards, and contribute to ongoing safety improvements.
• Sort, organize, and take inventory of tools, materials, and equipment within the yard.
• Assist in inspecting tools for needed repairs and help carry out basic maintenance activities.
• Prepare equipment and tools for field deployment.
• Label materials to support efficient inventory management practices.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and relocating materials as required.
• Support project teams by ensuring availability of tools and materials when needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues to fulfill daily yard and project needs.
• Exhibit flexibility and willingness to undertake various tasks to support operations.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma preferred; comparable experience accepted.
• Experience in construction, warehouse, yard operations, general labour, or maintenance is advantageous.
• Familiarity with construction tools, equipment, and materials is an asset.

Skills and Competencies

• Basic understanding of construction tools and material handling.
• Excellent organizational skills allowing efficient sorting and maintenance.
• Ability to detect tool or equipment issues and support simple repairs.
• Reliable, punctual, and consistently dependable.
• A strong awareness of workplace health and safety and hazard recognition.
• Good listening, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
• Capable of independent work and effective team collaboration with limited supervision.
• Physically able to perform manual labour, including lifting and moving materials under various weather conditions.
• Open to learning and assuming additional responsibilities as necessary.
