About the Role
This full-time, non-management engineering and facilities position is based in Palm West Beach, Palm Jumeirah Road, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role supports hotel operations by handling maintenance work, resolving guest repair issues, and keeping equipment and systems running safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Respond to guest repair needs and handle maintenance concerns with minimal supervision.
- Carry out preventive upkeep on tools and equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and visual checks.
- Move and carry maintenance equipment such as tools and radios, and locate the correct shut-off valves for equipment.
- Track maintenance stock and request parts or supplies when needed.
- Share daily updates, open issues, and shift handovers using approved communication standards.
- Read blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Use strong mechanical and engineering skills across areas such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance materials safely and correctly.
- Perform complex repairs on property systems and equipment, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, air conditioning, refrigeration, and pool heating systems, while meeting company standards and local/national codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment, including pumps, motors, toilets, drains, lamps, HVAC units, cosmetic fixtures, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, and televisions.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures before starting maintenance work.
- Use engineering software for preventive maintenance, energy management, and related systems.
- Diagnose issues in hotel MEP systems and support advanced troubleshooting.
- Train and guide other engineers when needed.
- Perform Engineer on Duty tasks, including readings and rounds.
- Follow safety, security, quality, confidentiality, and appearance standards at all times.
- Work respectfully with guests and colleagues, support teamwork, and communicate clearly and professionally.
- Handle physical duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier items with help, and work on stairs, ramps, and ladders as needed.
- Complete computer-based work-related entries and carry out other reasonable duties assigned.
Preferred Background
The role is suited to candidates with a high school diploma or GED, along with vocational or technical training. A valid driver’s license is required, and the position calls for substantial hands-on experience in general maintenance, electrical work, refrigeration, inventory handling, and surface preparation/painting. At least 2 years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience is expected.
Required Credentials
Candidates must hold Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certification and meet any applicable state and federal licensing or certification requirements.
