About the role

The Project Manager will report to the SVP Operations and will oversee all parts of project delivery, including planning, execution, and progress tracking through Upstream’s tools, processes, and methods. This position is suited to someone with strong potential who wants recognition for high performance and the chance to build experience on large and complex mobile marketing programs. The job is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Key accountabilities

  • Own the management and delivery of projects for mobile operators.
  • Lead the overall project plan and coordinate internal teams so launch timelines are achieved.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the client and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Translate client needs into project requirements, engage the right departments, and confirm technical feasibility and resource readiness.
  • Monitor milestones against the plan and make sure work is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Flag risks and issues to the relevant stakeholders when needed.
  • Manage client expectations and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Build and sustain relationships with external partners and third parties.
  • Prepare clear project briefs for Engineering, Operations, and Support teams.
  • Keep all participating departments aligned and working as one coordinated team.
  • Develop and maintain complete project records and documentation.

Requirements

The right candidate should be a strong communicator, collaborative, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable taking ownership.

  • A university degree, preferably in computer science or engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project management and/or consulting within telecom or information technology.
  • Strong technical understanding, with exposure to mobile technologies, software development, and web technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills for both client interactions and internal collaboration.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
  • French language ability is an added advantage.
  • PMP or PRINCE II certification is preferred.
  • Ability to stay effective under pressure in a demanding, fast-moving environment that calls for creative thinking and innovation.
  • A self-starting mindset, with responsibility and ownership of projects.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • High attention to detail.
