Job Summary

The Kitchen Steward will be responsible for keeping assigned areas clean and orderly, with a focus on both the inside and surrounding areas of the kitchen. The role also covers a range of routine cleaning and sanitation tasks to support smooth kitchen operations.

Key Duties

  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and maintained throughout the shift.
  • Use pot-washing equipment and help maintain a sanitary work area in line with hygiene rules and company procedures.
  • Remove waste from all operational areas according to established processes.
  • Dispose of garbage following local authority requirements and recycling practices, while keeping bin areas neat and tidy.
  • Carry out general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, washing up, and clearing rubbish bins and boxes into the correct disposal containers.
  • Wash and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other small kitchen equipment used regularly.
  • Rinse, wipe, sort, stack, load, and unload dishes and dishwashing equipment.
  • Store cleaned items safely and in an orderly manner.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen floors and walls, as well as the dishwashing area, according to standard procedures.
  • Monitor chemical levels and inventory supplies.
  • Follow all sanitation and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Remove chipped or broken items from use and update the breakage and inventory log.
  • Escalate maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment at all times.
  • Perform repetitive tasks efficiently and reliably.
  • Handle additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
