Position Summary
The Kitchen Porter position at Jamie's Italian UK, based in Leicester Square, London, reports directly to the Head Chef and Sous Chef. This role is crucial in sustaining the kitchen's smooth operation by ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and safety are consistently upheld across all kitchen environments. The Porter supports the culinary team to maintain efficiency and high-quality food service.
Major Responsibilities
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness standards in all kitchen zones, including equipment and utensils.
- Manage the washing of cookware and kitchen tools during operational hours and post-service.
- Ensure plate and pot wash stations are continuously operating to the highest standard.
- Uphold cleanliness and proper maintenance of kitchen machinery and tools.
- Assist with minor food preparation duties and guide team efforts during peak workload periods.
- Handle waste management and recycling procedures efficiently.
- Identify and communicate any maintenance requirements for kitchen equipment.
- Support team workflow and contribute to operational efficiency especially during busy hours.
- Exemplify punctuality, proper presentation, and effective work patterns as a standard for fellow staff members.
- Adhere strictly to task standards defined by the Head Chef and comply with company policies.

- Comply with all food hygiene, health, safety, and COSHH regulations.
- Understand and uphold Jamie's Italian’s protocols, especially regarding fire safety, hygiene, and food safety.
- Maintain a professional and polished personal appearance and behaviour during shifts.
- Deliver polite, courteous service consistently.
- Arrive on time wearing the appropriate uniform and maintain high hygiene standards.
- Foster good interdepartmental relationships and promote a collaborative work environment.
- Participate actively in team building and support colleague welfare and development.

Experience and Skills
- Prior experience as a Kitchen Porter in high-volume kitchen settings.
- Proven leadership skills or strong capabilities in supervising junior team members.
- Dedicated and hardworking with a strong commitment to work ethic.
- Aptitude for thriving in fast-paced environments and motivating team members in peak periods.
- Meticulous attention to cleanliness, safety, and operational detail.
- Ability to collaborate and promote teamwork effectively.
- Familiarity with COSHH regulations, health and safety standards, and chemical handling.
- Exclusive understanding of washing service operations and workflow.
- Competence in training, coaching, and developing others.
