Kitchen Helper

Overview

This position is for a Kitchen Helper who will support the culinary team in maintaining an orderly and sanitary work environment at a sushi restaurant located in Victoria, British Columbia. The role involves various food preparation and cleaning duties essential to efficient kitchen operations.

• No prior experience necessary; training will be provided

Work Location

This job requires the candidate to work onsite at the restaurant. There is no option for remote work.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate dishwashing machines to clean dishes, glassware, and flatware efficiently
• Package food items for take-out orders
• Prepare, heat, and finish simple food components as directed
• Stock refrigerators and salad bars ensuring freshness and availability
• Utilize manual and electrical equipment to clean, peel, slice, and trim various food items
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, including surfaces, cupboards, storage spaces, appliances, and equipment
• Receive deliveries, unpack items, and properly store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other designated areas
• Manage disposal of kitchen garbage and trash responsibly
• Perform floor maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing
• Handle washing, peeling, and cutting of vegetables and fruits as required
