Job description
Role overview
This opportunity is for a Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher at a private English-medium school in Abu Dhabi. The school was founded in 2014 and has grown quickly within the local community, with plans to expand into a full K-12 institution. It delivers an American curriculum within a framework of traditional Islamic values, serving primarily Emirati students and aiming to help every learner succeed academically.
Curriculum and school environment
The program follows U.S. Common Core for English and Math, Next Generation Science Standards, and the Virginia Curriculum for all remaining subjects. Students also receive instruction in Arabic, Islamic Studies for Muslim students, and UAE Social Studies to satisfy local education requirements. The campus includes libraries, computer suites, a gymnasium, art rooms, science laboratories, media rooms, a sports field, and audio/video recording studios.
Teacher profile
The school is seeking educators who are ready for a challenging environment and are motivated to grow professionally. Strong classroom management is essential, along with the persistence to support students who need extra help.
Location and housing
The school is based in Abu Dhabi near the International Airport, around 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi city beach. Staff accommodation is located about 20 minutes away, and free transport is available as an option.
Contract and working arrangement
This is a 3-year renewable contract. Working days are Monday to Friday.
Compensation and benefits
- Average monthly pay is AED 12,000 to AED 14,000, depending on experience and credentials.
- Annual airfare is provided for the teacher only, not dependents.
- Either a furnished studio apartment is supplied or an annual housing allowance of AED 50,000 is offered.
- Paid annual leave is at least 8 weeks, in addition to all national holidays.
- An end-of-service bonus is provided at roughly one month’s salary for each year worked.
- A work visa is issued, and the UAE fees for the employee are covered.
- Insurance is included, though employees are advised to arrange travel insurance because medical coverage may take more than a month to become active.
- Tuition support is available: the first child studies free, and the second child receives a 50% discount.
Candidate requirements
Applicants for Kindergarten and Primary positions must hold a Bachelor of Education. Teachers are also expected to be eligible to obtain a teaching license while working overseas. Middle and High School teachers must have either a bachelor’s degree in the subject they teach or a Bachelor of Education with a subject specialization.
Relevant experience in the American curriculum is required, and international teaching experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must have at least 2 years of teaching experience in the same subject area that matches their qualification, supported by a reference letter. Due to visa rules, applicants must be under 60 years of age.
Additional notes
This role is part of a private school setting with a strong focus on academic success, faith-aligned values, and support for students needing additional guidance.
