Job description

Role Overview

This position is with a leading Indian manufacturing business headquartered in Chennai and is based in Bangalore Rural, India. The role focuses on managing major modern trade customers and driving growth across strategic retail accounts.

Key Account Management & Business Growth

  • Take ownership of end-to-end business handling for priority modern trade accounts such as D-Mart and Reliance.
  • Build and implement joint business plans that support growth in volume, revenue, and profitability.
  • Spot opportunities to expand assortment, improve shelf presence, and run activation programs within the accounts.

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales targets for the assigned key accounts.
  • Review performance by category, SKU, and store to identify gaps and unlock sales improvements.
  • Keep product supply steady by managing ordering effectively and maintaining strong service levels.

Commercial Management & Negotiations

  • Handle commercial conversations around margins, trade terms, promotional arrangements, and annual business agreements.
  • Manage account-wise budgets for trade schemes, discounts, and promotional investments.
  • Ensure all pricing, contract terms, and commercial processes remain aligned with company policy.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Work closely with supply chain, finance, merchandising, and category teams to ensure smooth account execution.
  • Resolve billing mismatches, payment follow-ups, and claim processing in a timely manner.
  • Track and improve operational measures such as OTIF, stock coverage, and product freshness.

Business Analytics & Reporting

  • Study sales performance, category movements, and competitor actions to guide business decisions.
  • Prepare regular performance reports and dashboards with clear, actionable insights for senior leaders.

Promotions & In-Store Visibility

  • Plan and execute promotions, store activations, and visibility initiatives across modern trade partners.
  • Measure the success of promotional activity and optimize spending to improve returns.
