Systematic Portfolio Analytics Team

This group is a core function within Man AHL, recently broadened to encompass the entirety of Man Systematic. The team's purpose is to provide quantifiable insights throughout the systematic investment process, from signals to fund-level outcomes. They play a key role in guiding research priorities and capital deployment, collaborating closely with portfolio managers, researchers, and traders across regions.

Role Summary

The Junior Quant position offers an opportunity to join a well-established team at an exciting phase of growth. The successful candidate will leverage innovative AI and tooling to analyze large datasets, develop key performance metrics, conduct research to uncover insights regarding strategies, and build practical tools and reports for internal stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

We seek motivated self-starters with a keen eye for detail and intellectual curiosity, eager to solve challenging problems and apply modern AI technologies to their work. A passion for financial markets and a strong academic background in a quantitative discipline are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace and utilize AI and advanced toolsets to enhance individual and team productivity.
  • Extract and analyze extensive data from multiple systematic platforms.
  • Create analytics, KPIs, and metrics that convert raw data into actionable intelligence.
  • Conduct research to identify hidden insights about investment strategies and portfolio performance.
  • Develop coding solutions, reporting tools, and interfaces for use by portfolio managers and researchers.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the systematic investment estate to foster cross-platform synergies.
  • Collaborate closely with portfolio managers, researchers, technologists, and traders across geographies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong analytical and statistical capabilities with practical application focus.
  • Comfortable handling large datasets and familiar with risk management concepts.
  • Proficient in high-level programming languages, preferably Python, including scientific libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
  • Degree from a prestigious university in a mathematical, statistical, engineering, computing, economics, physics or related field.
  • Strong communication skills to foster productive working relationships across technical and business teams.
  • Self-organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Integrity and a positive, proactive approach to ambiguity and complex challenges.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with modern AI technologies such as language models, agentic workflows, and code generation tools.
  • Background or exposure to sell-side functions like trading, risk, quantitative investment strategies, or portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with Linux, SQL/Oracle databases, and KDB+.
