Job description

About the Company

KREWE is an independent eyewear label known for fashion-forward sun and optical frames inspired by the energy, creativity, and culture of New Orleans. Founded in 2013, the brand has grown into a distinctive name recognized for handcrafted products, strong design identity, and a commitment to quality and individuality. With headquarters in both New Orleans and New York City, KREWE operates through boutiques, mobile retail experiences, e-commerce, and distribution with leading independent and national retail partners.

The company is building a fast-moving, collaborative environment where team members are encouraged to take ownership, contribute original ideas, and help shape a brand with cultural roots and global appeal.

Role Overview

KREWE is seeking a Junior Product Designer to strengthen its design capacity and help guide future opportunities in product, color, and trend direction. This person will help carry concepts through to final product by coordinating input across the design team, rather than developing ideas in isolation. The role will also lead non-frame product development from start to finish, including briefing and ongoing coordination with Marketing on channel-specific needs. This position reports to the Senior Product Designer and is based at the New Orleans headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the full design and development cycle for new products, from the first concept stage through production.
  • Study trends, color direction, materials, and consumer behavior to identify future product opportunities.
  • Create seasonal color stories and product concepts that match the brand’s design vision.
  • Take ownership of non-frame product development and ensure work is completed on schedule and to quality expectations.
  • Draft design briefs and manage cross-functional input throughout the development workflow.
  • Work closely with Marketing to shape products that support campaigns, merchandising plans, and channel requirements.
  • Prepare sketches, renderings, technical specifications, and presentation assets that clearly express design intent.
  • Partner with Product Development, Sourcing, and outside vendors to improve designs and solve manufacturing issues.
  • Keep product files, samples, and development timelines well organized and up to date.
  • Support the Senior Product Designer in creating a repeatable, scalable design process while contributing new ideas and practical solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in eyewear development, with evidence of strong forecasting and merchandising judgment.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with initiative and drive.
  • Strong organizational ability and a proactive approach to creating and maintaining systems and workflows.
  • Self-directed, detail-focused, and capable of performing effectively in a high-performance setting.
  • Ability to align individual goals with broader company objectives.
  • Comfort with trying on frames and documenting fit through product modeling as part of the design and decision-making process.
  • Willingness to travel to New York City approximately four times per year.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage through group health plans.
  • Life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, and supplemental voluntary benefits.
  • Flexible spending account and health savings account programs.
  • 401(k) investment options.
  • Adoption support, employee assistance resources, and commuter benefits.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Quarterly cultural spending allowance.
  • Ongoing training and development, plus an education allowance.
  • 10 paid holidays along with paid time off accrual.
  • Quarterly employee frame allowance.

Diversity and Inclusion

KREWE is committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace where everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. The company provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants and does not discriminate or retaliate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetics, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
