Job description
Role overview
JA Coffee is hiring a full-time Junior Green Coffee Trader for its Montréal office. This on-site position focuses on assisting senior traders with the day-to-day flow of green coffee buying and selling, while building hands-on experience in trading, logistics, and client communication.
What you will do
In this role, you will help keep trading operations running smoothly by monitoring market movements, drafting offers, and following contracts from start to finish. You will maintain organized trade records, support shipment coordination, and stay in touch with suppliers and clients to ensure timely follow-ups.
You will also work with the quality team on sample handling, cupping planning, and relaying quality feedback to suppliers. In addition, you will help prepare internal updates, reports, and materials for customers, while representing the company in a professional and relationship-focused way.
What the role calls for
The position suits someone who is genuinely interested in commodities, international trade, or coffee and wants to grow trading and negotiation capabilities. The job requires strong comfort with data, spreadsheets, documentation, and clear reporting, along with excellent English communication skills. French and/or other language abilities are an added advantage.
Attention to detail is important, especially when handling pricing, contracts, shipment paperwork, and records. You should be able to manage several priorities at once, work efficiently in a fast-moving setting, and collaborate well with traders, the quality team, clients, and suppliers.
Additional qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Trade, or a similar field is preferred, though equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. Familiarity with supply chain or logistics work is useful, and exposure to international shipping or trade documentation is a plus. Interest in coffee origin, quality, sustainability, and cupping will be helpful. Experience with ERP or trading platforms is an advantage, and day-to-day work will rely on standard office tools such as Excel, Word, email, and collaboration software.
