Overview

Wealthfront is seeking a Junior FP&A Analyst to become part of its Finance team. This position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for numbers, a foundational knowledge in finance or accounting, and are looking to advance their career in financial planning and analysis. The role involves substantial participation in the month-end close process and focuses on supporting financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.

Finance Team at Wealthfront

The Finance team plays a crucial role in monitoring the company’s performance and future prospects. It manages financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end closing, and collaborates intensively with the Accounting department to ensure data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the month-end close by preparing reports, tracking deadlines, and facilitating a timely and smooth closing process.
  • Analyze the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement to evaluate business performance and pinpoint key factors.
  • Develop detailed variance analyses by comparing actual outcomes to forecasts and prior periods, including explanatory commentary.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team to accurately understand business results and maintain complete financial information.
  • Engage with different business units to collect assumptions, learn about forthcoming projects, and reflect these in budgets and forecasts.
  • Enhance ongoing reports and seek opportunities to automate or simplify existing workflows.
  • Contribute to semiannual budgeting and monthly rolling forecasting processes.
  • Update and refine financial models utilized for planning and reporting purposes.
  • Analyze trends in the business to clarify changes in financial outcomes.
  • Generate recurring analyses to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial presentations for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct special analyses as needed to address new business queries and support strategic decisions.
  • Drive improvements in finance processes, reporting, and workflow efficiency as the company scales.

Qualifications

  • Obtained a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline, with strong finance fundamentals.
  • Have 2 to 4 years of experience in FP&A, accounting, or similar financial roles.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Experience in financial modeling, especially with three-statement models, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with enterprise accounting systems like Netsuite is a plus.
  • Experience using Google Workspace is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of databases such as SQL is beneficial.
  • Aptitude for working in a dynamic environment and self-managing responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational abilities to juggle multiple tasks under deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to accuracy and high-quality output.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity when managing sensitive financial data.

Ideal Candidate Traits

  • Interest in deciphering the financial narrative behind business numbers.
  • Curiosity and proactive inquiry into reasons behind financial variances.
  • Dedication to producing precise work and catching details others might overlook.
  • Initiative-taking, urgency-driven, and solution-focused mindset.
  • Preference for improving financial models, reports, and workflows rather than only maintaining them.
  • Eager to develop robust FP&A expertise while learning from experienced colleagues.
  • Enjoys collaborating in a supportive and straightforward team environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers an estimated yearly salary ranging between 94,000 and 109,000 USD, along with equity grants and a discretionary bonus. Additional perks include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; Employee Stock Purchase Plan; generous paid time off; parental leave; wellness reimbursements; professional growth opportunities; and employee investing discounts.
