Role Overview
As a Junior Drafting Designer within the Energy Division located in Calgary, Alberta, you will support multidisciplinary project teams by preparing engineering deliverables. This role operates on a hybrid model requiring at least one day per week onsite and primarily involves drafting tasks under the mentorship of senior designers.
Responsibilities
- Create technical drawings including plot plans, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), piping layouts, isometrics, material takeoffs, and tie-in details, aligned with engineering specifications and client standards.
- Skillfully produce and update P&IDs as part of project documentation.
- Maintain drafting quality control and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure design integration.
- Stay informed about industry developments, software advancements, and internal processes to continuously improve drafting output.
- Participate in special initiatives such as refining internal drafting standards when opportunities arise.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possession of a 2-year technical degree or diploma from an accredited institution.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in an engineering firm within oil and gas or energy sectors is advantageous.
- Willingness and ability to travel to field sites as required.
- Strong analytical capabilities with an ability to manage multiple projects in dynamic environments, alongside flexibility in work hours.
- Self-motivated with the capacity to follow direction from experienced designers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity or experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Autodesk Revit considered a plus.
