About the Role
SDS Design Engineers is a specialized firm in building design and engineering, offering expertise in geotechnical, water, and civil & structural engineering. With a workforce of over 40 professionals in Ireland and Spain, the company is seeking a Junior Civil and Structural Engineer to join its Castlebar, Co. Mayo office. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and draft detailed drawings, designs, and diagrams
- Develop and perform structural design calculations and concepts
- Collaborate with engineers and architects during design preparation
- Precisely calculate dimensions and allowances for projects
- Update drawings and layouts to reflect revisions and improvements
- Respond proactively to the coordination needs of design teams, clients, and contractors
- Engage with external consultants and clients for project alignment
- Conduct site visits to take measurements as required
- Undertake related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in civil or structural engineering
- 2 to 5 years of experience working within an engineering design office or related environment
- Exposure to diverse engineering projects is preferred
- Strong familiarity with current Irish Building Regulations
- Proficient knowledge of British and Eurocode design standards for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber
- Expertise in AutoCAD and Revit for producing high-quality technical drawings and designs
- Experience with structural analysis software such as Robot or Staad PRO-QSE is essential
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage tight deadlines, and deliver projects punctually
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Self-driven with meticulous attention to detail and ability to conduct thorough research
