Role Overview

The Junior AI Integration Engineer will collaborate closely with various business teams at ZURU to identify operational bottlenecks, design AI-driven solutions, and implement them into live production. The role involves hands-on building of AI-powered systems such as knowledge bots, workflow automations, campaign reporting agents, and data analytics tools. The position covers multiple domains including toys, consumer goods, tech, and construction across ZURU's international locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct one-week intensive sprints with business units to observe workflows, identify automation opportunities, develop functional proof-of-concepts, and transition validated models to the engineering team.
• Develop AI tools featuring knowledge bots, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, data analysis agents, and custom web applications.
• Integrate AI solutions with business data sources by creating semantic models to streamline AI querying processes involving Databricks and MCP connections.
• Manage deployment and maintenance of infrastructure using tools like Terraform, AWS, and adhere to modern CI/CD workflows.
• Design and implement RAG systems supporting document management, chunking, and retrieval optimization across multiple business units.
• Lead workshops aimed at elevating team skills in AI usage from beginner to autonomous proficiency.
• Coach AI champions within teams and contribute to communal resources such as skill libraries, templates, and instructional guides.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proficient in reading and writing Python and JavaScript or TypeScript code.
• Familiarity with AI programming assistants like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code.
• Experience in constructing end-to-end AI workflows.
• Comprehensive understanding of modern large language model capabilities including agent usage, tool integration, RAG systems, context engineering, and structured outputs.
• Skillful in dissecting complex business processes and redesigning them for automated solutions.
• Excellent communication abilities to engage cross-functional teams and senior leadership, translating technical concepts into accessible terms and facilitating workshops.
• A builder’s mindset focused on creating scalable, reusable AI tools over temporary fixes.
• Capacity to manage projects from problem identification to working prototype delivery.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Exposure to cloud infrastructure tools such as Terraform and AWS.
• Experience working with data pipelines or semantic layers like dbt.
• Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, or document retrieval systems.
• Active involvement in hackathons, open-source projects, or personal AI-related projects.
• Hands-on experience managing projects throughout their lifecycle in academic, personal, or professional settings.
