Job description
Overview
The Judicial Case Manager role involves overseeing the progression of judicial cases through the Delaware court system, managing multiple legal events, processes, resources, and related activities to ensure efficient and timely case flow. This position requires interpreting court procedures and managing legal documentation, applying advanced knowledge of the court’s operations and jurisdiction to independently handle daily case management tasks and troubleshoot issues. The role acts as a liaison among judicial officers, legal professionals, court users, and the public, providing information and support without dispensing legal advice, demanding professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate case filings to assign appropriate case track or recommend alternative case tracks.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including judiciary, attorneys, law enforcement, and the public to manage case-related activities and address inquiries.
- Create and maintain accurate, comprehensive case files.
- Track case progress through multiple legal events, preempt delays, and take proactive measures including participant communication to speed case resolution.
- Research case records and collaborate with resources to correct data and resolve disputes or complaints.
- Provide advisement to judicial officers regarding case events leading to final rulings.
- Maintain contacts with the legal community and other agencies to facilitate case flow.
- Participate in court proceedings involving documentation, data entry, witness swearing, and evidence marking.
- Utilize automated systems for data entry, updates, inquiries, and reporting.
- Coordinate delivery of legal documents and correspondence.
- Manage court calendars and schedules, including notifications and rescheduling as needed.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Judicial Case Manager I:
- Minimum six months’ experience managing cases through legal processes.
- Six months’ experience applying relevant laws, rules, and procedures.
- Six months’ experience using automated systems for data management and reporting.
- Knowledge of narrative report writing.
Judicial Case Manager II:
- At least one year of experience managing case flow.
- One year interpreting laws, regulations, and court policies.
- Six months conducting research to verify case information and resolve issues.
- Six months narrative report writing experience.
