Role Overview

The Jr. Design Consultant is a full-time showroom support position focused on client service, product guidance, and sales assistance. This role helps manage sample fulfillment, keeps showroom operations running smoothly, maintains stockroom organization, and supports customers in choosing products. The position contributes directly to a positive client experience and efficient day-to-day showroom performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide clients through product choices by advising on patterns, color options, trims, and other available selections.
  • Support sales activity through thoughtful recommendations that match customer needs and project goals.
  • Handle special product requests and custom assignments for showroom clients.
  • Pick, pack, and send memo sample requests for the assigned territory.
  • Prepare samples by customizing, measuring, and cutting them as needed for client presentations and projects.
  • Create and process reserves, quotations, and customer orders with accuracy and speed.
  • Keep showroom displays and merchandising presentable, organized, and visually appealing.
  • Maintain order in the stockroom, manage memo sample inventory, and oversee product storage.
  • Support inventory checks and related stock activities when needed.
  • Work with Outside Sales Associates by assembling sample packages, assisting with presentations, and responding to showroom requests.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely completion of customer and operational needs.
  • Contribute ideas and effort toward improving showroom operations and the customer journey.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree or a Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Between 1 and 3 years of experience in customer service, retail, showroom, hospitality, or sales support.
  • Strong organizational skills and clear communication abilities.
  • Experience in a showroom, design, or luxury goods environment is preferred.
  • Background in interior design, textiles, furnishings, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Prior experience supporting sales teams and working in client-facing settings is preferred.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with order entry, CRM platforms, or inventory systems is an added plus.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, prepare, and organize samples.
  • Basic familiarity with interior design, textiles, trims, or luxury furnishings is preferred.
  • Strong service orientation and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Good time management, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
