Job description

About the Role

Rainbow Centre is recognised among the top 300 employers in the Singapore Opportunity Index and is known for building career pathways with meaningful chances for growth. In this role, you will support students as they move through vocational training and work attachments toward post-school placements. The position focuses on job matching, on-the-job coaching, and sustained employment support. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborate closely with caregivers and employment partners to provide counselling, behaviour support, and work-performance interventions that help students succeed in vocational settings.

Key Responsibilities

This role covers the full cycle of job coaching, placement preparation, and ongoing support for students in work attachments and placements.

  • Assess students’ readiness for job attachments and placements together with the IEP team.
  • Identify each student’s vocational interests and strengths, and help build them further.
  • Design and deliver practical job coaching and vocational training plans, including accommodations and adaptations when needed.
  • Find and organise job attachment opportunities across school-based, community-based, and industry-based settings.
  • Review job sites to determine whether they are suitable for students.
  • Prepare students before they begin job attachments.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to vocational support.
  • Help create training plans and in-house materials that build work readiness, such as travel training, interview preparation, and grooming skills, in partnership with the IEP team.
  • Work with the Transition Planning Coordinator and post-school agencies or employers to support a smooth move into the School-to-Work transition programme and post-school services.
  • Partner closely with the IEP team, caregivers, employers, and other stakeholders to sustain students’ vocational training.
  • Communicate and collaborate with caregivers, co-workers, and employers so they can jointly support the students’ attachment and work experience.
  • Carry out pre-vocational and post-vocational assessments.
  • Plan and coordinate exposure activities such as learning journeys and job shadowing.
  • Participate in reflection and evaluation of practice, including considering how current issues affect the profession and sector.
  • Stay current with, and comply with, relevant laws, organisational policies, procedures, and professional codes of conduct.

Requirements

  • A relevant diploma is required; a Certificate in Autism is an advantage.
  • A Diploma in Special Education will be looked upon favourably.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities who require moderate levels of support.
  • Prior experience in vocational training, assessment, or placement is an advantage.
  • Frequent travel to job sites is required.

Additional Information

This position involves regular travel to external work sites. The role is focused on supporting students with disabilities in vocational preparation, placement, and long-term work success.
