Job description
Role overview
This position focuses on engaging local jobseekers and supporting the onboarding of community employers under the Jobs Nearby @ CDC initiative. The role is centred on helping residents connect to nearby employment opportunities through community-based job matching and workforce outreach efforts.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain engagement with resident jobseekers while helping community employers join the Jobs Nearby @ CDC programme across CDCs and CCs.
- Offer one-to-one support to jobseekers by understanding their concerns, responding with empathy, and guiding them through each stage of the job search process.
- Work with employers such as SMEs, neighbourhood businesses, and community organisations, as well as vendors, to create jobseeker profiles, manage job postings, and ensure smooth use of the job portal.
- Support jobseekers with digital profile setup, document uploads, and use of job portals or related platforms for applications.
- Arrange connections between employers and jobseekers through in-person or online sessions, including walk-in interviews held on the spot.
- Track progress and outcomes for jobseekers, follow up regularly, and review service steps such as post-interview and post-placement to improve the experience for all parties.
- Grow the employer network and strengthen relationships to increase participation and engagement.
- Take part in and help run outreach events such as job fairs, learning festivals, and other community activities that link residents with employers.
- Record and report key information such as jobseeker registrations, employer sign-ups, and successful placement stories for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Support the onboarding of new Job Ambassadors by sharing operational guidance and helping them get familiar with daily work processes.
- Handle additional tasks that may be assigned beyond the main duties listed above.
Skills and knowledge expected
The role calls for experience or familiarity with outreach, career guidance, skills advisory, community engagement, recruitment, or workforce development. Candidates should also be comfortable communicating with diverse residents, including using a second language such as Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, or local dialects where helpful. Strong interpersonal skills are needed to manage questions from employers and jobseekers, along with a basic understanding of labour market trends and workforce-related policies. The job requires the ability to work independently across multiple community sites, travel frequently within the district, and remain flexible for evenings, weekends, and public holidays when needed. Comfort with outdoor engagement work is important, and the ideal candidate should be proactive, persuasive, and resourceful.
Additional information
The role involves outdoor community outreach and frequent movement between different local locations. A willingness to work outside standard office hours may be required depending on event schedules and community needs.
