Job description

Position Summary

This role is exclusively available to current employees of the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a skilled Band 6 IT Support Technician who combines deep technical expertise with leadership capabilities to manage complex IT situations and champion service excellence within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced second and third-level technical support addressing critical and complicated IT issues.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and management of IT infrastructure upgrades, system enhancements, and strategic technological projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving hardware, software, networks, and digital systems to maintain high operational standards.
  • Mentor and guide junior IT staff, fostering skill development and teamwork within the department.
  • Monitor and ensure IT service performance aligns with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to accurately identify and satisfy technology needs and requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation and improvement of IT policies, promote innovation, and support continuous service improvement.
  • Facilitate the introduction of new technologies and best practices throughout the organisation to enhance IT services.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven substantial experience working in IT support or infrastructure roles, preferably within an NHS organisation.
  • Strong analytical skills in troubleshooting across multiple technology platforms and infrastructures.
  • Track record of managing complex technical incidents and executing IT-related projects successfully.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • A proactive and innovative approach towards service enhancement and operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with experience mentoring and supporting team members.
  • Experience working with enterprise deployment software; experience with Tanium is desirable.
  • Previous line management experience is considered advantageous.
