Job description

Overview

Join a growing IT services company as an internal recruiter focused on New Zealand hiring, with occasional support for roles in other regions. This position suits someone who combines sound judgement, warmth, pace, and a low-ego approach. You will work closely with hiring managers and senior stakeholders as part of a small, collaborative team where recruitment is treated as shared work rather than a solo effort.

The role calls for someone who can step into urgent hiring needs, shape unclear briefs into practical plans, and identify talent that may not be obvious from a CV alone. The emphasis is on thoughtful assessment, strong candidate care, and keeping hiring decisions moving in a busy environment.

What the role involves

  • Leading role intake discussions and refining hiring requirements with managers
  • Writing, posting, and promoting job advertisements
  • Searching for candidates proactively and engaging them directly
  • Assessing applicants for technical suitability, communication, motivation, values alignment, and overall fit
  • Coordinating interviews and maintaining momentum throughout the hiring process
  • Handling candidate communication, expectations, and offers professionally
  • Helping improve recruitment workflows and hiring processes
  • Challenging unclear, unrealistic, or overly complex hiring processes early

What success looks like

You are able to turn a half-formed or urgent request into meaningful progress quickly. You know how to spot potential beyond keywords, have the confidence to advise hiring managers on market realities, and can support both the candidate experience and the business outcome. You understand that recruitment is a team relay, not a personal race, and you are comfortable picking up the baton when needed.

Requirements and capabilities

  • Proven end-to-end recruitment experience in a busy environment with a mix of roles
  • Working knowledge of MSP, IT services, and client-facing technology roles
  • Good sourcing judgement, including when to broaden the search or manage expectations realistically
  • Strong candidate evaluation ability, especially when potential is not obvious on paper
  • Confidence building trust with hiring managers and giving practical market advice
  • Empathy, professionalism, and a balanced, direct communication style
  • Collaborative approach with a calm, low-ego attitude and a bias for action
  • Auckland-based, with the ability to work in a hybrid setup
  • Experience in internal recruitment or distributed recruitment environments is valued
  • Technology recruitment background is considered an advantage
  • Commercial awareness around salary levels, market conditions, and candidate expectations is also an advantage

Work setup

This is a full-time permanent role based in Auckland, with hybrid working available. Recruitment is internal rather than agency-based, and hiring may extend across New Zealand and other locations when needed.

Benefits

  • Competitive remuneration package of up to $100k plus KiwiSaver, depending on the right mix of values, skills, and experience
  • Hybrid working arrangement
  • Access to Uprise for one-on-one support with qualified psychologists or counsellors
  • Flexible working options to support work-life balance
  • Flexible leave arrangements
  • 10 paid study days each year under the Never Stop Growing programme, with exam fees covered where conditions apply
  • FastTrack mentoring programme
  • Ongoing mentoring, support, and real opportunities for internal progression
  • MAD (Making a Difference) Council focused on equality, charity, and the environment
  • Regular social activities and a strong team culture

Values and culture

The team values curiosity, good questions, and the ability to look beyond the obvious. Success in this role depends on someone who can challenge assumptions, work with judgement, and help others see the candidate they may have overlooked. The environment is designed for people who want to be useful, practical, and team-oriented rather than self-important.

Additional information

Applications are welcomed from neurodiverse candidates. Candidates are encouraged to disclose this when applying so the company can provide its Neurodiversity Statement and outline flexible options that may help them present their strengths effectively.
