Role Overview & Responsibilities

  • Assist seasoned finance professionals in originating, structuring, and executing mergers and acquisitions, debt advisory, and equity advisory deals for privately owned companies.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis and modeling covering historic and forecasted results, working capital, capital structure, and credit quality evaluations.
  • Research companies, industries, and markets to underpin transaction execution and initiatives for business development.
  • Help prepare pitch materials, confidential information memorandums, management presentations, and various corporate finance documents.
  • Support due diligence and transaction processes by managing virtual data rooms, tracking stakeholder responses, and responding to data requests.
  • Review letters of intent, credit agreements, financing proposals, and related documents to evaluate pricing, structuring, and principal transaction terms.
  • Generate internal briefing materials that summarize transaction frameworks, valuation aspects, and financing options.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying targets, reaching out to prospective clients, and managing relationships.
  • Participate actively in meetings with client management, lenders, investors, acquirers, and other involved parties.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with both existing and potential clients and capital sources.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, mathematics, accounting, or other quantitatively oriented fields.
  • Between one to three years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate or commercial banking, private credit, private equity, transaction advisory, valuation, accounting, consulting, or related areas is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with expertise in financial modeling and advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • A clear passion for corporate finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and private market operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, critical thinking, and effective verbal and written communication.
  • Highly self-driven and entrepreneurial with the ability to work independently within fast-paced settings.
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willingness and availability to work onsite in downtown Calgary Monday through Friday and as needed beyond regular business hours.
