About the Role
A UK-based private equity firm specializing in founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses is seeking an Investment Associate for its London office. This firm has a proven history of collaborating with management teams to foster growth, enhance operations, and drive strategic development. With a robust pipeline of new prospects and an active portfolio, the firm is expanding its team to support ongoing growth.
The Investment Associate will collaborate closely with senior investment professionals throughout the entire investment lifecycle. This position offers extensive exposure to deal origination, execution, and portfolio management within a generalist investment strategy. The role involves significant responsibility and direct engagement with management teams, advisors, and stakeholders of portfolio companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the evaluation and execution of new investment opportunities, including conducting financial analysis, valuation, and commercial assessments.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to assess investment returns, capital structures, and potential downside scenarios.
- Prepare investment memos, internal approval documents, and presentations for investment committee reviews.
- Undertake market, industry, and company-specific research to aid in investment screening, thematic analysis, and deal origination efforts.
- Coordinate and facilitate commercial, financial, legal, and operational due diligence processes for ongoing transactions.
- Assist in transaction structuring, negotiation, and execution, working in tandem with management teams and external advisors.
- Monitor the performance of portfolio companies, analyze operational and financial results, and contribute to value creation strategies.
- Provide support to portfolio company management teams on strategic initiatives, acquisitions, financing activities, and business planning.
- Contribute to fundraising activities, investor reporting, and other firm-wide projects as needed.
Requirements
- Possess 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, or a similar analytical field.
- Demonstrate strong capabilities in financial modeling, valuation, and accounting, with advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Exhibit strong commercial acumen and the ability to evaluate businesses across diverse sectors.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Be highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple tasks concurrently in a dynamic environment.
- Show a clear interest in private equity investment and a commitment to supporting businesses through long-term growth and value enhancement.
