Job Summary
This full-time Investment Associate position based in Houston, TX, reports to the Branch Office Manager and supports the investment team. The role involves assisting with investment research, portfolio management, and due diligence under the guidance of the Senior Managing Director. It includes client interaction and intends to develop the associate into a senior position responsible for managing and growing client relationships. Candidates ideally hold a Master of Finance, MBA, or have one to three years’ experience in wealth management, demonstrate strong quantitative abilities, intellectual curiosity, interpersonal skills, and eagerness to grow professionally.
Responsibilities
- Engage directly with clients in meetings, calls, and correspondence, representing the team professionally.
- Lead portions of client meetings and portfolio reviews as experience grows.
- Gradually take charge of servicing assigned client relationships with support from senior leadership.
- Source and develop new clients through networking, referrals, and firm initiatives guided by senior management.
- Identify opportunities to expand current client engagements, including multi-generational service and additional assets.
- Maintain exceptional client service standards for responsiveness and follow-through.
- Conduct investment research across asset classes including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and third-party managers.
- Build and maintain financial models and analytical tools.
- Monitor market and economic trends with implications for portfolios.
- Assist with manager due diligence including quantitative analysis, documentation, and meeting preparation.
- Support portfolio construction, rebalancing, performance analysis, risk reporting, and maintain asset allocation frameworks.
- Coordinate trade executions and transitions with internal teams.
- Prepare market commentaries, investment reviews, client presentations, and respond promptly to inquiries.
- Collaborate with senior team members, lead projects improving research and reporting processes.
- Commit to professional development including pursuing CFA® charter with firm support.
- Contribute positively to team culture and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Master of Finance or MBA degree, or 1-3 years’ relevant wealth management experience.
- Comfortable and capable with direct client engagement and building relationships.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and Excel skills; experience with portfolio analytics software (Morningstar, Bloomberg, FactSet, YCharts) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of capital markets, portfolio theory, and investment vehicles across equities, fixed income, ETFs, funds, and alternatives.
- Excellent communication, both written and oral.
- Highly organized, detail-focused, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
- Demonstrates professional maturity, emotional intelligence, and passion for investing.
