Overview
This internship places interns within an R&D innovation group, focusing on diverse research areas such as emerging contaminant treatment and the creation of new renewable energy products. The role provides practical exposure in supporting technological and product advancement from initial stage materials and components testing to advanced process refinement and optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily laboratory tasks including managing ongoing experiments and preparing samples for analysis.
- Execute various analytical methods including physicochemical assays, ion chromatography (IC), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), and total organic carbon (TOC) measurements.
- Gather, systematize, and evaluate experimental results.
- Document lab activities and report findings to supervisory staff.
- Engage in team discussions concerning experiment design and report progress.
- For semester-long interns, independently pursue research projects addressing specific problems under guidance.
Candidate Profile
- Academic background in chemistry, water treatment, and material science is essential; familiarity with electrochemistry is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience in an R&D laboratory environment is beneficial.
- Capable of multitasking effectively and managing competing priorities.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities to articulate ideas and technical knowledge to diverse stakeholders including customers, production, facilities, and regulatory teams.
- Demonstrates curiosity and motivation to enhance current processes while working semi-independently with eagerness to expand expertise in the water industry.
