We are looking to hire an experienced Integration Engineer to collaborate with a client’s internal development team. The focus will be on managing and enhancing the integration layer connecting the client’s core business platform with multiple third-party systems. Responsibilities include evaluating existing integrations, identifying areas for improvement, and developing new solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current integrations between the client’s main system and external services, proposing enhancements.
- Design and implement integration solutions involving ERP, CRM, accounting, and productivity software.
- Develop integrations using REST and SOAP APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and advanced authentication mechanisms.
- Ensure integrations are deployed on appropriate API tiers, properly registered with providers, and scalable.
- Collaborate closely with the in-house development team through research, discussions, and providing clear recommendations beyond coding.
- Produce thorough documentation for all developed integrations, facilitating smooth handovers.
Experience and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years overall experience in integration roles.
- Proficiency with integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, Kong, WSO2, Azure API Management, Apigee, or equivalent.
- Alternatively, demonstrated expertise in building custom middleware and cloud-native/serverless integrations using AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, or similar.
- Hands-on experience integrating ERP, CRM, accounting, or other business management systems.
- Strong skills in API technologies, including REST, JSON, SOAP/XML, OAuth 2.0, and webhooks.
- Solid background in working with databases, especially PostgreSQL.
- Ability to work autonomously, analyze unfamiliar systems, and provide practical recommendations.
- Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience integrating with SaaS products like Google Workspace and accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks.
- Familiarity with legacy codebases, coupled with patience to maintain and work around them.
- Knowledge of API security protocols and governance practices.
