Job description
Role overview
This position sits within Baker Hughes Integrated Services, a team that plans, coordinates, and delivers multidisciplinary well and field development programs through one accountable operating model. The aim is to improve predictability, protect asset value, and lower execution risk for operators.
As the Integrated Commercial Director – Field Development, you will steer complex commercial and proposal work for integrated upstream field development opportunities. You will shape commercial approaches, assist in customer negotiations, and make sure proposals and agreements support shareholder value while appropriately managing technical, operational, financial, and contractual exposure.
The role calls for deep E&P business development experience, a solid understanding of upstream field development methods, and the capability to convert end-to-end technical development plans into commercial structures that are practical and aligned to the opportunity.
Key duties
- Build proposals, support or lead customer negotiations, protect value creation, and contribute to competitive pricing; this may also include preparing and submitting tender materials.
- Work with technically complex products, services, and systems that must be adapted to specific client environments and require technical evaluation and design input.
- Own the commercial architecture for integrated field development opportunities, covering pricing, scope definition, contract approach, risk sharing, and the customer value proposition.
- Use knowledge of upstream development practices across geoscience and engineering disciplines to create commercially sound and technically informed solutions.
- Interpret the technical basis of full-cycle field development plans and build corresponding commercial frameworks that serve both customer and business goals.
- Manage lengthy and complex sales cycles involving pricing and terms for rentals, operations, maintenance, services, integrated solutions, and other field-development-related arrangements.
- Help draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements tied to E&P business development, including asset purchases, joint operating agreements, commercial partnerships, and related liabilities.
- Serve as a senior contact for key business unit accounts and customer stakeholders.
- Coordinate contributions from engineering, legal, risk, finance, operations, product lines, and leadership teams.
- Take part in major sales and business development pursuits involving large, complex, or strategically significant opportunities in high-growth markets.
- Ensure proposals and negotiated agreements align with internal governance, risk controls, approval workflows, and shareholder value expectations.
Candidate profile
To succeed in this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, along with more than 10 years of experience as a commercial advisor within an E&P business development environment. You should also bring 10+ years of experience drafting commercial agreements and negotiating terms connected to asset acquisition, joint operating agreements, and associated liabilities.
Strong familiarity with upstream development practices across geoscience and engineering disciplines is essential, as is the ability to understand the technical logic of end-to-end field development plans and convert it into a suitable commercial structure.
