Role Overview
Due to company growth, Lumicera is looking to add an Intake Specialist I to its specialty pharmacy team. In this role, you will support patient enrollment, gather and document essential patient and prescription information, communicate with patients and healthcare providers, and help coordinate prior authorization activities when needed. Prescription verification is completed by the Specialty Pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities
- Reach out to both new and existing specialty pharmacy patients by phone.
- Enroll patients in specialty services, including care management, copay support programs, and billing-related processes.
- Handle incoming calls from patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Contact physicians and other providers to secure required information.
- Manage assigned workflow queues and keep tasks moving efficiently.
- Enter prescription details and related information accurately into the pharmacy dispensing system.
- Support the prior authorization process by helping gather information for providers and insurance carriers when needed.
- Carry out pharmacy technician-type duties in other areas of the facility as assigned.
- Follow all applicable federal and state regulations and maintain strong ethical and compliance standards.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- College coursework is preferred.
- National CPhT certification and/or state registration/licensure is required based on the employee’s state of residence.
- At least 2 years of pharmacy support or healthcare environment experience is preferred.
- Must be able to work scheduled hours; shifts can vary depending on departmental needs.
- Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- Must participate in and support the company’s compliance program objectives.
- Should work well with others and interact in a respectful, cooperative manner.
Compensation and Schedule
The pay range is USD 20.00 to USD 21.96 per hour. The role is eligible for no STAR bonus, with an at-risk maximum of 0.00. Scheduled working hours are 6:00 AM CST to 7:00 PM CDT.
