Role Overview

The Inspector I - Quality will be based at Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, working within the Structural and Buildings Module Yard. This role focuses on ensuring all heavy structural modules and building components meet stringent project specifications and quality standards throughout fabrication and assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections of heavy structural modules and buildings to verify they comply with project documentation, covering civil, building, structural steel erection, piping, equipment installation, and testing activities.
  • Monitor adherence to general arrangement, civil, architectural, structural steel fabrication and erection drawings, plot plans, applicable codes, standards, and procedural requirements.
  • Perform quality control inspections of structural and building modules, including pipes, equipment installations, and testing aligned with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Oversee receipt inspections, storage, and preservation of materials at the module yard, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.
  • Verify piping fabrication and installation inside modules per isometric and general arrangement drawings.
  • Witness dimensional and alignment checks; measure dimensions, levels, alignments, and elevations of structures to ensure conformity with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Observe bolt torqueing, tightening, and tensioning procedures of bolted connections.
  • Conduct inspections related to structural steel fabrication processes such as fit-up, welding, and dimensional verification.
  • Inspect piping spool fabrication and installation, equipment installation and alignment, electrical/instrument supports, cable routing, painting and coating, and final assembly and module integration phases.
  • Perform random surveys using specialized equipment to verify vertical/horizontal alignments, location accuracy of structures, pipe elevations, and quality checks on reinforced steel, embedded components, concrete, and formwork placement.
  • Confirm mechanical completion by ensuring all construction activities are finished and verified, including accepted welds/NDT results, complete painting, QC documentation finished, and punch list items resolved.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with safety standards, building codes, signage, markings, and specifications through continuous inspections.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international codes and standards, specifically AWS, ASME, ISO, and API codes/practices pertinent to structural/building modules.
  • At least seven years of experience as a Quality Control Inspector focused on structural building and fabrication yards.
  • Experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industries is essential.
  • Familiarity with module yard fabrication is advantageous.
  • Prior engagement with major EPC contractors or their subcontractors is preferred.
