Job description
Job purpose
This role is responsible for making sure coating inspection activities and related processes are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with the relevant technical requirements, company rules, and procedures.
The position also supports coating inspection planning and execution as documented, while helping improve blasting and coating productivity across projects.
Key accountabilities
- Develop coating procedures during the bid stage and again after project award.
- Track HSEQ performance and productivity for blasting and painting work across the yard, including oversight of coating personnel qualification activities.
- Coordinate coating procedure qualification work and confirm alignment with both project-specific and company requirements.
- Oversee storage conditions for paints, materials, and consumables so they comply with required storage controls such as air-conditioning, lighting, and explosion-proof systems, as specified in the paint manufacturer’s data sheet or technical specification.
- Forecast, identify, and arrange coating and painting consumables for projects ahead of time.
- Check subcontractor activity to ensure coating and painting materials and consumables meet client specifications.
- Examine bid documents assigned by the QC Manager and flag coating and blasting-related cost elements.
- Support the identification of poor-quality blasting/coating materials and other possible issues.
- Work with project management, clients, and departments such as Production, Planning, and Engineering to communicate coating-related risks and opportunities during bid and execution phases.
- Apply knowledge of coating codes, standards, and client specifications, and help other teams remain compliant.
- Follow all applicable information security policies and procedures.
Qualifications and experience
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Valid professional certification in NACE Level I / II or BGAS 2.
- At least 9 years of experience in quality inspection of offshore structures such as rigs and jackets.
- English language proficiency is required.
- Arabic is an advantage.
