Job description
Company Overview
The Free Spirits Company is a rapidly expanding food and beverage brand and has been named among the INC 5000 Top 20 companies in its category. The company was created to rethink how alcohol fits into cocktails by developing a complete range of handcrafted, layered, and bold spirit alternatives that contain no alcohol. Its products are designed so people can enjoy elevated cocktails while making more conscious choices about alcohol consumption. The organization is focused on preserving the social ritual and enjoyment of cocktail culture while offering a modern, alcohol-free option.
Role Overview
This is a full-time remote opportunity for an Industrial Designer. In this role, you will transform brand direction into tangible product ideas, packaging concepts, and customer-facing experiential elements that reflect the company’s identity and user needs. You will brainstorm and sketch concepts, build detailed 3D models, create mockups and prototypes, and refine solutions using input from cross-functional partners. The position also calls for close coordination with product development, marketing, and operations so that designs remain practical, sustainable, and aligned with manufacturing constraints. You will take part in design reviews, keep production documentation organized, and help drive continued innovation in the non-alcoholic spirits space.
Responsibilities
- Turn brand strategy into physical product concepts, packaging ideas, and experiential design elements.
- Create early-stage sketches, explore design directions, and develop detailed product concepts.
- Build 3D models, prototypes, and mockups to test and refine ideas.
- Use feedback from internal teams to improve designs through iterative development.
- Work with product, marketing, and operations teams to ensure concepts are feasible and production-ready.
- Consider sustainability and manufacturing requirements while shaping final design solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and maintain accurate documentation for production use.
- Contribute fresh ideas to ongoing product innovation in the non-alcoholic spirits category.
Requirements
- Background in industrial design or product design, with hands-on experience creating consumer products or packaging.
- Ability to prototype and develop products by testing concepts and refining them through iteration.
- Experience applying design-thinking methods to define problems, generate ideas, and validate solutions.
- Comfort using 3D modeling and CAD software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, or Fusion 360.
- Familiarity with materials and common manufacturing processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong sketching, rendering, and presentation skills for communicating concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in consumer goods, packaging, or food and beverage products is preferred.
- Interest in non-alcoholic beverages and contemporary cocktail culture is an advantage.
Additional Information
This role is fully remote and full-time. The company is focused on innovation within the non-alcoholic spirits category and expects the designer to help shape products, packaging, and related experiences that support that mission.
