Job description
About the Company
Veolia is focused on environmental impact and ecological transformation, with a mission centered on helping “resource the world.” Through its Water Technologies business, the company develops end-to-end water treatment solutions and works on sustainable development, resource recovery, and product recovery for a wide range of applications.
The organization emphasizes employee empowerment, encouraging people to make sound decisions and contribute meaningfully to water treatment and broader sustainability goals.
Role Overview
Veolia Water Tech is hiring an Indirect Procurement Transformation Director for Europe. This position can be based remotely or in a hybrid setup, depending on country preferences.
The role is responsible for driving transformation and cost reduction across external spend in operations and business functions. It combines procurement leadership, change management, and strategic influence to help the organization buy in a smarter, more sustainable way.
Transformation Leadership
- Own and steer indirect procurement transformation efforts, track progress against targets, identify performance gaps, and put corrective actions in place.
- Build and launch new initiatives across the indirect procurement team and wider business functions.
- Remove blockers and help resolve issues raised by other initiative owners.
Strategic Sourcing
- Coach and support the indirect procurement organization in developing sourcing strategies and applying strong procurement practices that deliver durable financial results.
- Promote a “buy better” approach by shaping category strategies for the highest-spend areas, including preferred supplier usage, vendor consolidation, and make-or-buy decisions.
- Keep a strong focus on improving supplier service levels while shaping category strategies.
- Advance “spend smarter” initiatives through demand management and budget analysis that influences purchasing behavior across teams.
- Assess the viability of new savings initiatives and work closely with category management to build solid business cases.
Stakeholder Management and Change
- Work closely with teams across IT, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Legal, Sales, Marketing, and Communications to improve external spend through better procurement practices.
- Lead change adoption by ensuring stakeholders are informed, trained, and brought into new ways of working.
- Act as a change catalyst for best-practice implementation across the business.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring deep procurement expertise, especially in large-scale transformation programs within a global organization, along with strong category management experience across indirect spend areas such as IT, temporary labor, travel, corporate services, fleet, transportation and logistics, and MRO.
Success in this role also requires strong leadership, communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability, plus the ability to influence senior C-level stakeholders across functions.
A degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
Veolia is an inclusive employer and considers every applicant equally, without discrimination.
