Role Overview
As part of advancing our organizational goals to optimize revenue collection and enhance tax compliance, we are seeking a motivated and experienced ICT Officer focusing on Business Continuity Management (BCM). This role is pivotal in planning, designing, and managing database architectures, troubleshooting data issues, managing data backups and standby systems, and maintaining effective recovery procedures to ensure continuous operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-availability ICT services to all users within the Authority.
- Participate actively in assessing new or updated software solutions.
- Ensure the integrity and security of all databases managed by the organization.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain databases tailored for business needs.
- Create logical and physical database designs that satisfy user requirements.
- Document data structures and storage locations comprehensively.
- Regularly monitor database performance and optimize accordingly.
- Generate reports to support management decisions.
- Maintain data consistency across central and remote database locations.
- Formally document systems changes and incidents following established protocols.
- Keep recovery procedures fully documented and regularly updated.
- Maintain detailed logs and files of system changes and incidents, particularly for standby sites.
- Update system, procedure, and user manuals consistently to reflect current practices.
- Implement strategies to protect IT systems and meet management needs during major incidents or disasters.
- Conduct testing of standby systems and databases, validating implementation and enhancements with stakeholders.
- Test modifications before deployment in standby environments, confirming outcomes with users.
- Research current ICT trends globally and provide recommendations on relevant technical advancements.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Completed Grade Twelve School Certificate or equivalent with at least five credits, including Mathematics and English.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience in ICT with demonstrated expertise as a database administrator, particularly using Oracle technologies.
- Active membership in ICTAZ or another recognized professional ICT body.
