Job description

Position Overview

The Hygiene Officer will oversee and coordinate operations to ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations. This role involves advising on correct food handling procedures and delivering food hygiene training to new employees and trainees. The officer is responsible for identifying potential risk factors in food-related processes and implementing preventative measures. Additionally, they provide expert guidance on product labeling to meet governmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist management with recruitment, training, staff scheduling, performance assessments, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching of team members.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies and safety protocols; promptly report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, professional appearance and ensure confidentiality of sensitive company information; safeguard company property.
  • Respond effectively to guests’ service requirements using clear, professional communication.
  • Foster positive working relationships among colleagues, supporting teamwork and addressing employee concerns constructively.
  • Ensure food quality and safety standards are met consistently.
  • Perform physical tasks including prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or Culinary Arts from an accredited institution.
  • Two to four years of relevant professional experience in food safety or hygiene roles.
  • Minimum of one year in a supervisory capacity.
