The HYCO Shift Supervisor position in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, involves directing operational activities of the HYCO Steam Methane Reformer unit and its ancillary systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficient plant production.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uphold and promote a safe workplace by enforcing all company and industry safety procedures to prevent injuries.
  • Lead and supervise the HYCO unit staff in line with Work Instruction Procedures, including operating the unit as necessary.
  • Offer technical guidance based on input from management and engineering teams for troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and testing tasks.
  • Support operations during startups, shutdowns, and emergency situations, maintaining precise documentation and monitoring quality assurance efforts.
  • Ensure effective operation of equipment, utilities, controls, safety, and security systems to promote safety, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Participate in planning for scheduled outages to meet contractual obligations.
  • Utilize data-driven decisions for efficient plant production, balancing safety, reliability, and profitability.
  • Collaborate closely with shift team members, site management, maintenance, and engineering personnel to achieve production targets and optimize energy use safely.
  • Implement Air Products Quality safety programs including work permits, lockout/tagout, and confined space procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in shutdown and turnaround planning efforts.
  • Adhere to corporate standards and global best practices in EH&S, productivity, reliability, quality, and customer service.
  • Maintain strong relationships with refinery customer counterparts ensuring alignment on product supply expectations.
  • Coach and motivate the operations team to reach operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and support incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal HYCO unit matters and provide timely updates to customers.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation, ensuring all operator logs comply with standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of active leaks and manage action plans for emergency and high-risk issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting productivity, reliability, cost reduction, and service quality.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Chemical Process Operations preferred; candidates with a two-year technical associate degree may be considered based on experience and capability.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in gas, petrochemical, or related industries encompassing operations, engineering, or maintenance roles, with at least 4 years in frontline process operations supervision.
  • Proven ability to develop and train staff to reach high competency levels (Level 1/Board Level) within 2 to 4 years.
  • Hands-on involvement in plant operations is expected as an integral part of the supervisor role.
  • Demonstrated skill coordinating multi-disciplinary teams including operations, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities promoting a unified team environment and effective customer management.
  • Broad technical knowledge across operations, engineering, and maintenance functions.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Familiarity with local environmental laws and health and safety regulations.
