Job description
About Alato World
Alato World is a change-oriented organization that connects logistics, systems, and people development to create operations that are efficient, adaptable, and centered on employees. The company takes the view that how an organization runs its processes, teams, and supply chain reflects its overall values and strategic direction. Instead of addressing problems in isolation, it builds structures and workflows that bring clarity, strengthen culture, and support growth at scale. Its work sits across teams and decision points, helping businesses create systems that can evolve as they expand.
Role Overview
This contract Human Resources Manager position is based in New York, NY and follows a hybrid arrangement with both in-office and work-from-home time. The person in this role will manage routine HR operations, including employee lifecycle activities, onboarding and offboarding, and the upkeep of complete and accurate HR records and documentation.
The role also supports managers and employees with employee relations, performance management, and interpretation of policies, while helping ensure compliance with relevant labor laws and internal standards. In addition, the HR Manager will contribute to recruitment efforts, coordinate interviews, assist with offer-related processes, and help create HR initiatives that reinforce alignment, culture, and operational consistency.
Working closely with leadership, this role will identify opportunities to improve HR processes, support learning and development efforts, and help establish scalable systems that can grow with the organization.
Key Responsibilities

- Support managers and staff with employee relations matters, conflict resolution, performance processes, and policy guidance.
- Help ensure HR practices comply with applicable labor regulations, especially New York and U.S. requirements.

- Work with leadership to improve HR processes and strengthen systems that can scale with business growth.
- Support training and development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in core HR operations, including employee lifecycle management, onboarding, offboarding, and HR administration.
- Solid understanding of employment law, compliance expectations, and HR policy requirements, particularly for New York and U.S. jurisdictions.
- Proven capability in employee relations, conflict handling, performance management, and manager coaching.
- Background in talent acquisition tasks such as sourcing, interviewing, and supporting hiring decisions.
- Comfort using HRIS tools, HR analytics, and basic reporting to support decision-making.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to earn trust across different teams and seniority levels.
- Ability to operate effectively in a hybrid work setting with both in-person and remote collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is preferred but not mandatory.
