Job description

Role overview

A leading multi-strategy hedge fund is hiring an HR Manager for its New York office during a period of significant growth. This is a newly established position reporting to the CHRO, who is based outside the US, and it offers a rare chance to become the first HR lead in the American office with high visibility and a strong degree of independence.

What you will own

The firm has expanded quickly and launched several new investment platforms over the last two years. In this role, you will help shape and deliver the people strategy while also running day-to-day people operations across the full employee lifecycle for the New York team. You will partner with business leaders on workforce planning and talent development, maintain governance and HR compliance structures, and ensure HR priorities support the company’s growth plans. You will also provide direct input to the CHRO as broader HR strategy is developed.

Key focus areas

The position includes cross-regional work to improve onboarding, talent acquisition, and performance management practices. You will also have the chance to contribute to initiatives involving AI and automation in HR operations.

Candidate profile

The ideal hire will have substantial experience as an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or HR Officer, with a broad generalist background gained at a leading bank, asset manager, or private equity firm. You should be comfortable influencing stakeholders at every level, learning quickly in a fast-moving environment, and thriving in a collaborative, flat structure.

Growth and impact

This is a critical business hire for the organisation. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and move into a decision-making role within 6 to 18 months. The compensation package can reach $300K total compensation in the first year, and the company is said to offer a highly competitive employee benefits package.
