Job description
Role overview
BOC Limited Australia is seeking an experienced Heavy Rigid (HR) driver to operate from the Darwin branch in the Northern Territory. The position involves hauling LPG and CO2 in tanker and cylinder-truck operations, serving domestic and commercial customers across metropolitan and regional Darwin, and assisting with duties in the operations area when needed.
This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday. The company also provides training and ongoing support so the successful applicant can build confidence while working in a safety-focused environment.
Key duties
- Drive a 12-tonne truck in line with BOC procedures, rules, and operational standards.
- Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks to confirm the truck remains roadworthy, clean, presentable, and fully equipped with current paperwork and safety gear.
- Ensure delivery documents are submitted on time and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support branch colleagues in customer service, job completion, adapting to demand, and maintaining a positive team culture.
- Identify and report compliance concerns, out-of-date or out-of-due cylinders, and complete any required checks.
- Escalate all incidents to the Branch Manager.
- Follow all safety rules and regulatory requirements connected to the role.
- Communicate with customers in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant has prior experience driving Heavy Rigid vehicles and can demonstrate a clean driving history. A dangerous goods handling certificate is required. Experience in a retail sales setting is considered an advantage, along with strong customer focus, solid time management, and good written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of industrial and safety equipment would be useful, and a forklift licence is regarded favourably.
