Key duties and responsibilities
- Respond to every incoming call to the housekeeping office in a timely, courteous manner.
- Capture guest requests accurately and pass them on to the relevant team members, including requests for extra amenities, housekeeping service, or laundry collection.
- Keep communication flowing smoothly between housekeeping, front office, and engineering teams.
- Register maintenance issues and monitor them until they are resolved within the required timeframe.
- Maintain up-to-date room status records, including vacant, occupied, dirty, clean, and out-of-order rooms.
- Receive, record, and process lost-and-found items in line with hotel procedures.
- Review and update the daily room discrepancy report together with the front office team.
- Prepare routine operational reports such as the room status report, occupancy report, and attendant assignment sheet.
- Assist supervisors and room attendants by arranging supplies, keys, or other required information.
- Organize and maintain housekeeping files, logs, and report records.
- Ensure the order-taking logbook is complete, accurate, and consistently updated.
- Track guest supply and amenity requests for inventory and control purposes.
- Handle guest questions and service requests with professionalism and efficiency.
- Follow up on requests to make sure services are completed and guest satisfaction is achieved.
- Escalate guest preferences and complaints to supervisors for appropriate action.
Skills and competencies
- Strong phone handling skills and professional guest communication.
- Excellent organization and multitasking ability.
- Comfort with hotel systems, Microsoft Office, and internal communication tools.
- Working knowledge of hotel operations and housekeeping procedures.
- Ability to stay composed and effective in a busy environment.
- Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Secondary school completion or an equivalent qualification is required; hospitality training is an advantage.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a comparable role, preferably in housekeeping or front office operations.
- Good command of English; additional languages are a plus.
