About Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is dedicated to helping artists, leaders, and thinkers on campus unlock and expand their creative potential. The organization also recognizes and respects its home in Banff, Alberta, on Sacred Buffalo Guardian Mountain and within Treaty 7 territory, honouring the Îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda) Nations — Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney — along with the Tsuut’ina First Nation, Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Piikani, Kainai), Shuswap Nations, Ktunaxa Nations, and Métis Nation of Alberta, Rockyview District 4.

The Opportunity

Banff Centre is hiring a Housekeeping Floater to keep linen closets and storage areas across guest residences organized and well supplied so Room Attendants have what they need to complete daily work. In this role, you will also support guest room cleaning and contribute to the overall cleanliness, comfort, and guest experience of the campus.

Key Duties

  • Move freshly laundered linen to linen closets in all Banff Centre residences.
  • Remove used linen from guest rooms and transport it to housekeeping loading docks.
  • Gather waste from all Banff Centre buildings and place it in the proper disposal areas.
  • Support room cleaning tasks when needed.
  • Set up and take down furniture in rooms as required.
  • Maintain the housekeeping office and storage spaces in an orderly condition.
  • Restock Room Attendant carts each day.
  • Prepare and deliver guest room items such as glasses, mugs, coffee machines, and similar amenities.
  • Perform carpet cleaning duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence, or an equivalent international licence, is required.
  • You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Prior experience in cleaning and customer service is expected.
  • Strong English communication skills and the ability to follow instructions are needed.
  • You should be self-directed and comfortable working with limited supervision.

Special Requirements

This role requires flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, based on operational needs.

Employment Terms and Pay

This is a unionized hourly support staff role under CUPE 4318 and includes a 500-hour probationary period. The pay rate is $18.64 per hour, and the schedule can total up to 40 hours per week on a rotating basis.

Benefits

  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Discounts in the staff cafeteria and restaurant
  • Access to the onsite fitness facility at a reduced rate, with the first month free for new staff

Application Requirements

Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is identified. A criminal record check showing a clear record will be required before a final offer can be confirmed. Applicants must already be legally authorized to work in Canada, as the employer cannot support Canadian work authorization applications.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Banff Centre is committed to building an equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The organization encourages applications from women; First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples; visible minority groups; persons with disabilities; and people of any sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
