Role overview

Peppers Blue on Blue Resort is located on Magnetic Island, about 25 minutes by ferry from Townsville, Queensland. The property overlooks the Coral Sea and offers guest rooms, suites, and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Guests can also enjoy a large lagoon-style pool and on-site dining at Boardwalk Restaurant & Bar, which is popular with both locals and visitors. On your time off, the island and surrounding area offer plenty to do, including hiking, biking, fishing, and exploring or diving in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Why this role matters

As a Housekeeping Attendant, you are an important part of the housekeeping team and help create an excellent stay by keeping guest rooms spotless and maintaining a strong eye for detail. The role also involves working smoothly with teammates and assisting guests when required. Your contribution helps ensure every visitor leaves with a positive, memorable hospitality experience.

Key duties

  • Clean guest rooms thoroughly, including changing linens, sanitising bathrooms, and wiping down surfaces to deliver a strong first impression.
  • Follow the property’s housekeeping standards and procedures consistently.
  • Keep housekeeping trolleys stocked, tidy, and ready for use.
  • Handle cleaning products responsibly and follow safety practices at all times.
  • Respect guest privacy and support the safety and comfort of the property’s visitors.
  • Escalate maintenance concerns quickly to help maintain a smooth guest experience.

Experience and working style

Prior experience in cleaning or room attendant work is beneficial, though not essential. You should communicate in a friendly and professional manner so guests and team members feel comfortable around you. Strong attention to detail, good time management, and an efficient approach to work are important. This is a physically active position and may involve moving between rooms via internal and external staircases and open walkways. You should also be comfortable working with colleagues from a range of backgrounds.

Shift and availability requirements

A reliable means of transport is required, along with the flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
