Role Overview
The Housekeeping Associate is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public spaces, and service areas to luxury standards while supporting the hotel’s guest experience. This role requires strong attention to detail, discretion, teamwork, and consistent adherence to brand, Forbes, and LQA expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean guestroom furniture and soft furnishings, including chairs, sofas, and carpets, in both rooms and public areas.
- Remove difficult stains such as chewing gum, candle wax, wine, and coffee marks.
- Maintain daily service quality in line with LQA, Forbes, and brand standards.
- Work cooperatively with other team members to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
- Help deliver a distinctive guest experience that reinforces the sense of place.
- Assist and guide newer members of the housekeeping team when needed.
- Address guest questions and concerns promptly and seek appropriate solutions.
- Arrive prepared for duty with the required appearance and presentation standards.
- Collect key cards and the duty phone from the housekeeping office at the scheduled start time.
- Gather the necessary equipment and confirm the correct tools are available before beginning work.
- Clean departure rooms while keeping noise to a minimum, especially in early hours.
- Minimize noise on guest floors, including when closing doors or speaking with others.
- Reset turndown rooms back to daytime presentation.
- Respect “Do Not Disturb” instructions and do not enter such rooms.
- Inform the floor supervisor of sleep-outs, extra departures, DND rooms, or rooms not requiring service.
- Clean all rooms in accordance with Rosewood standards.
- Keep trolleys orderly, clean, and well arranged throughout the shift.
- Maintain corridors and public areas in spotless condition.
- Set up extra beds and baby cots when required.
- Immediately report guest laundry found in occupied rooms to the housekeeping office.
- Remove room service trays from guestrooms and corridors and place them in the designated collection point.
- Clean and empty the vacuum cleaner and help tidy the store cupboard at the end of the shift.
- Restock, clean, and store the trolley before leaving the floor.
- Remain on the floor until the floor housekeeper signs off the paperwork.
- Return all lists, key cards, and the duty phone to the housekeeping office after the shift.
- Send lost-and-found items directly to Security and follow the proper lost property procedure.
- Ensure any gift from a guest is supported by guest authorization and a security pass-out before removal from the hotel.
- Safeguard key cards and the duty phone, never lending them to others, and report any loss immediately.
- Escalate any guest security concerns to the Security Department without delay.
- Keep equipment in good condition and report faults or defects to the floor supervisor.
- Report malfunctions in assigned areas through the required system.
- Keep guest doors closed during servicing and use the service card correctly.
- Prevent unauthorized entry into guestrooms and direct guests to use their own key card; seek Guest Relations support if needed.
- Protect guest belongings and report anything unusual or suspicious to the floor supervisor.
- Monitor guestroom and minibar condition to ensure standards are consistently met.
- Restock missing minibar and guestroom items, clean minibars, and follow departmental procedures and policies.
- Track minibar stock daily, complete the worksheet, and charge items to guest accounts using the iPod device.
- Check minibar and guestroom products for expiry and replace items as needed.
- Maintain proper product rotation in the minibar.
- Report possible misuse of stock or any unexplained shortages.
Standards and Conduct
- Noise control, guest privacy, and respectful floor etiquette are essential parts of the role.
- All safety, security, and lost-property procedures must be followed carefully.
- Accuracy, accountability, and proper handover of keys, phones, and paperwork are required at all times.
