About the Role

This position is part of a senior living community in Saint John, New Brunswick, where the goal is to support both team members and residents in a positive, service-oriented environment. The Housekeeper plays an important part in keeping the community’s interiors, including resident apartments, clean, hygienic, and welcoming while maintaining a courteous and friendly approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine housekeeping across the community and in individual resident apartments, including vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning entryways, shared spaces, dining areas, hallways, patios, and private apartments.
  • In resident apartments, handle tasks such as defrosting refrigerators when needed, cleaning and checking heat system filters, changing bedding and linens, ensuring adequate linen stock, turning mattresses with assistance when required, and emptying waste bins.
  • Perform more thorough apartment cleaning as needed, giving extra attention to areas such as the main entrance, carpets, plants, artwork, railings, windows, and light fixtures.
  • Wash and dry all linens using the on-site laundry facilities.
  • Follow all company sanitation standards and safety procedures.
  • Welcome residents and guests at tables with a friendly attitude and serve beverages, cereals, soups, and salads from the cart.
  • Explain meal options clearly, take resident orders, and serve meals and desserts in a courteous manner.
  • Return service carts to the kitchen, help store perishable items, and deliver trays to resident rooms when required.
  • Clear and bus tables after meals, reset them for the next service, and follow the required sanitizing process for tables and chairs.
  • Complete side duties such as replenishing sugar and cream, cleaning the coffee maker, and similar tasks.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Comfort with basic reading, writing, and arithmetic tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English with both residents and coworkers.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation practices and safe food-handling standards.
  • Capacity to remember and manage multiple orders at once, up to four.
  • Good organization and time management abilities.
  • Basic computer literacy.
