Housekeeper - Public Area

Role Overview

This position is part of the housekeeping and laundry function at a hotel in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. It is a full-time, non-management role focused on keeping public spaces and employee areas clean, safe, and presentable for guests and staff.

Key Duties

• Sanitize public and staff restrooms as well as shower areas.
• Wash glass surfaces in guest-accessible and employee-only areas.
• Maintain floors by cleaning them with the appropriate chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Remove dust from assigned surfaces and keep the area orderly.
• Empty trash bins, ashtrays, and ash urns in public spaces into designated receptacles.
• Check furniture for damage such as tears, stains, or rips and report issues promptly.
• Keep lighting fixtures clean and in working condition.
• Place warning signs when needed to reduce traffic in wet or unsafe areas.
• Coordinate directly with other departments when urgent repairs are required.
• Respond quickly to guest and interdepartmental requests.
• Identify and report maintenance concerns in public areas or guest rooms.

Work Standards and Physical Requirements

You will be expected to follow company procedures, safety rules, and security guidelines at all times. This includes reporting accidents, injuries, hazards, and maintenance issues, completing required safety training and certifications, and storing flammable materials correctly. Professional grooming, confidentiality, clear communication, guest courtesy, teamwork, and quality standards are essential. The role also requires frequent physical activity, including lifting and carrying items up to 55 pounds without assistance and heavier items with help, pushing and pulling equipment across uneven or sloped surfaces, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, working in confined or elevated spaces, climbing ladders, and standing, sitting, kneeling, or walking for long periods during the shift. Additional duties may be assigned by supervisors as needed.

Qualifications

No high school diploma or GED-equivalent is required. There is no prior related work experience requirement, no supervisory experience requirement, and no license or certification is needed.
