Job description
Role Overview
This position focuses on enhancing sales for heating, bathroom, and kitchen products by delivering excellent service to both Trade and Retail clients. The role requires assisting customers in product selection, offering expert product information, and managing stock-related duties. The consultant will operate primarily within the HBK design showroom and act as the initial point of contact at the Trade Counter and Showroom, engaging with customers daily who are central to the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and understand client needs to support the design and remodel of kitchen and bathroom areas.
- Advise clients on building materials, styles, color schemes, patterns, and spatial layouts, producing sketches and drawings tailored to their preferences.
- Communicate effectively with clients via phone and email for consultations.
- Identify and offer value-adding solutions to both internal and external customers.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with Trade and Retail clients by providing product support, technical guidance, and interior design recommendations.
- Deliver a positive in-store experience, engaging customers warmly and professionally.
- Manage sales operations including preparing orders for dispatch, merchandising, and maintaining showroom aisles.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in designing kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, flooring, and wardrobes.
- Demonstrated customer service and sales capabilities with confident and clear communication skills, capable of handling demanding situations and deadlines.
- Professional demeanor with polite, accommodating approach to customer interactions.
- High standards of personal presentation and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management abilities to meet strict deadlines and company goals.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications including Excel; familiarity with other software such as Winflex is advantageous.

Additional Information
Employment is permanent, full-time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) based in Whanganui. Pre-employment requirements include reference checks, medical, drug screening, and criminal background verification. Applicants must have legal authorization to work indefinitely in New Zealand.
