Job description
About Maritime Thermal Solutions
Maritime Thermal Solutions is a company based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, focused on educating homeowners about their heating options. We connect interested residents with local HVAC partners for heat pump maintenance and installation, without performing installations ourselves. Our operations are guided by a strict code of conduct for all representatives.
The Role
As a Heat Pump Appointment Setter, you will engage with homeowners in Halifax neighborhoods from Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Your primary responsibilities include discussing heat pump options, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance for efficiency and longevity, and answering homeowner questions in a clear, informative, and pressure-free manner. The core of the job is to have helpful conversations and, if a homeowner is interested, schedule a free, no-obligation appointment with one of our partner HVAC providers. This is not a high-pressure sales role; the focus is on education and connection.
What You'll Earn
You will receive a daily base pay of $60, paid every shift, plus commission for every appointment and/or sale made by our partners. Earnings are directly deposited every Friday. During the initial 90 days, active representatives typically earn between $700 and $1,200 weekly, combining base pay and commission, which annualizes to approximately $36,000 to $62,000 before reaching full productivity. This is not a commission-only position, as the daily base provides a guaranteed income floor.
Training That Pays From Day 1
Comprehensive training begins on your first day, ensuring you are well-prepared and earning from the start. The first week includes classroom sessions covering the role, heat pump basics, and effective communication techniques. Subsequent days involve a mix of classroom and field training with an experienced trainer, providing real-time coaching in assigned territories. By the end of the first week, you will have your own territory and the necessary tools to start earning commission.
Who Thrives Here
This role is ideal for individuals with diverse backgrounds, including those from restaurants, hospitality, retail, customer service, athletics, and team sports, as well as recent graduates, career-changers, and newcomers to Halifax. Success in this role often comes from strong communication skills, resilience in the face of rejection, coachability, and a goal-driven mindset.
What You'll Need
- Reliable transportation to get to shifts within Halifax HRM.
- Availability Monday to Friday, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
- Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Comfort working outdoors in various Nova Scotia weather conditions; branded gear will be provided.
- A respectful and non-pressuring approach to interactions, adhering to a strict code of conduct.
How We Work
Our operational model is built on a no-pressure approach, reflected in our training and performance metrics, which prioritize appointments booked over sheer volume of doors knocked. You will work within an assigned territory, benefit from team huddles before each shift for planning and motivation, and enjoy recognition for achievements. Opportunities for career advancement into team lead or coordination roles are available within 6 to 12 months for top performers. This role offers the chance to contribute to Nova Scotia's home energy transition by helping families make informed decisions.
Additional Information
This is not a commission-only role; a daily base of $60 is provided for every shift worked. Pressure tactics are strictly prohibited, and representatives must respect a homeowner's decision if they decline an appointment. Maritime Thermal Solutions is committed to diversity and welcomes applications from all backgrounds, including newcomers to Halifax.
