Role overview
TerraGlen Residential Care Services is recruiting a Healthcare Assistant for its residential care service in Longford, Ireland. This is a permanent position with a 39-hour working week. The role involves helping service users in their day-to-day lives, carrying out basic administrative duties, and supporting household tasks within the service.
What the role involves
- Encouraging and supporting service users to take part in planned activities that interest them.
- Providing personal care and helping with the day-to-day needs of the people using the service.
- Working in a way that promotes independence and community participation, in keeping with New Directions (HSE, 2012).
- Building your understanding of each service user through active listening and reflective practice to strengthen your own skills and knowledge.
- Taking on a key worker role with support and direction from senior staff.
- Working collaboratively with the wider team, sharing responsibility for workload and contributing positively to team meetings and supervision sessions with the PIC, Deputy Manager or SCL.
- Protecting confidentiality and following GDPR requirements at all times.
- Supporting the management and administration of medication in line with the medication policy.
- Communicating with multidisciplinary professionals, family members, and other relevant contacts connected to the service user.
- Completing health and safety observations and reporting any concerns as required.
- Contributing to person-centred planning meetings and other service user meetings, then following through on agreed actions and outcomes.
- Making sure service users receive appropriate support in their everyday lives.
Requirements
- A relevant healthcare or social care qualification, with QQI Level 5 as the minimum standard.
- A full, clean driving licence with at least two years of experience is desirable.
- A sincere commitment to supporting people with disabilities.
Compensation
The salary for this role is €32,691 per year.
