About the organisation
St. Joseph's Foundation is a voluntary organisation that delivers high-quality services and support to people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
Compensation and benefits
- Starting pay is €15.68 per hour, with annual increases up to €21.76 per hour.
- Night shifts attract a 25% premium.
- Sundays and public holidays are paid at double time.
- The role may be offered as a permanent full-time position or on a locum basis, depending on your circumstances.
- Employees receive 24 days of annual leave.

Requirements
- Applicants should hold a full QQI Level 5 qualification in healthcare or a closely related area.
- Previous experience supporting children or adults with intellectual disabilities is required.
- A full manual driving licence and access to personal transport are essential.
- The role needs a flexible approach and the ability to work well within a team.
- A strong commitment to helping people with disabilities improve and maintain their quality of life is important.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day personal care and assistance, including support with dressing, hygiene, and toileting.
- Help service users take part in leisure activities, work, routine daily tasks, and community involvement.
- Observe and document changes in physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist with individual care plans, including support for service users with challenging behaviours.
- Drive or accompany service users to services, outings, and appointments.
- Support individuals during holidays, hospital admissions, therapy sessions, and pool activities where needed.
- Keep records accurate and up to date.
- Ensure all environments remain clean, safe, and comfortable.
- Support the induction and mentoring of new team members.
- Use equipment and assistive aids properly and safely.
- Log and report accidents, incidents, and defective equipment without delay.
- Work in line with safety procedures and the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
- Understand emergency processes and help maintain fire safety standards.
