About the role
Workit Health delivers on-demand, evidence-based telemedicine care centered on harm reduction. Its model combines licensed clinicians, FDA-approved medication, online recovery groups, community support, interactive therapeutic courses, and care for co-existing conditions. The company aims to make long-term recovery more accessible while removing barriers to treatment and helping people continue their daily lives.
This role sits on the Member Experience team and supports the handling of releases of information and medical records. The position requires careful identification of request types, prompt and accurate processing, and strict protection of confidential health information. The work must align with organizational standards, deadlines, policy requirements, and applicable state and federal rules.
Key duties
- Accept, prioritize, and process records requests in line with confidentiality requirements under state and federal law, including 42 CFR Part 2 and regulations for substance use treatment records.
- Keep patient privacy and safeguards at the center of every interaction involving health information and medical records.
- Act as a knowledgeable resource for clinical documentation and support training and quality improvement efforts related to HIM.
- Apply company policies and procedures consistently and accurately.
- Communicate in a friendly, collaborative manner with both internal teams and external requesters.
- Record all incoming requests and completed responses accurately and on time.
- Make sensitive corrections to records only within regulatory boundaries.
- Support Workit Health in building a positive workplace environment.
- Take on additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- RHIT, RHIA, or another relevant HIM certification is preferred, or the willingness to earn one within one year of hire.
- 1–2 years of experience in health information management, medical records processing, or a related healthcare administrative role is preferred.
- Experience handling sensitive health data, especially substance use treatment records and 42 CFR Part 2 compliance, is strongly preferred.
- Working familiarity with EHR systems and document management software is needed.
Regulatory and technical knowledge
- Understanding of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other federal and state rules governing patient confidentiality and disclosure of health information.
- Ability to interpret and apply compliance policies and procedures accurately while processing requests and maintaining documentation.
Compensation
The posted pay range is USD 23 to 24 per hour.
